IPC Researchers Cited in PE Valuations Article published by Chief Investment Officer
Professor Greg Brown (Research Director, Institute for Private Capital) and his colleagues, both of whom are involved with the Institute and affiliated Private Equity Research Consortium, Professor Steven Kaplan (University of Chicago) and Oleg Gredil (Tulane University) were cited in an article published by Chief Investment Officer (CIO), an online and print magazine for the world’s leading asset managers, on August 11, 2016. Their paper, “Do Private Equity Funds Game Returns,” which has been presented and well-received at a number of Institute for Private Capital events, was used as primary evidence in the article to discourage GPs from inflating their valuations. Brown, Kaplan and Gredil point out that “investors see through much of the manipulation.”
